After a disappointing Test and One day tournament Pakistanis finally managed to end their stay in
Under the new leadership of Shahid Afridi for the T/20 Pakistanis who elected to bat first piled up 172 runs for the loss of 5 wickets striding in to commanding position against the home team.
Pakistanis captain Shahid Afridi chipped in with 50 from just 37 balls to lead the team in front, Imran Nazir (40), Umar Akmal (30) and Abdul Razzaq (25) contributed useful runs to score 172 at the end of their 20 overs.
Nuwan Kulasekara managed to give Lankans a breakthrough in the first delivery of their innings and T Thushara also grabbed 2 wickets but Pakistanis bounced back strongly putting Sri Lankans under enormous pressure.
However answering requirement Lankan openers managed to set up a useful 39 runs partnership; ST Jayasuriya scored 23 and new opener ML Udawatte also scored 11 runs but Pakistani bowlers were also so much up to the task as they never allowed Lankan batsmen to switch to the aggressive mode.
Skipper Sangakkara kept Lankans hopes high scoring 38 runs but the support given to him by the others were not enough for him to guide Lankans to a victory.
Continuing their good momentum from the last ODI's Pakistani bowlers today also hit the good spots to trouble the Lankans, Saeed Ajmal grabbed 3 wickets for 19 runs and
Naved-ul-Hasan also bagged 3 for 20 runs to win the match by 52 runs in just 18.1 overs. Pakistanis played as a complete unit in today's match and the man who led them in front Shahid Afridi was named as the player of the match.
During their stay in Sri Lanka Pakistanis lost the both test and ODI series but gain some pride by winning the last two ODI's and the T/20.
